Viola Angela was born on December 1, 1941, to Joseph and Rosie (Schecher) Turchin in Effington Township. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Viola attended country school through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Casper Becker on February 17, 1958, in Bertha. Following their marriage they made their home in Henning for a short time before relocating near Urbank. Viola was a dedicated caregiver. It was important to her to stay home to raise her children and keep a tidy home. Once her children were older, Viola started working at St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie as a cook in the dietary department.  In the early 1980’s the family moved to a home near Vining. Casper passed away in 2002 and Viola continued living in Vining and working at St. William’s Living Center, eventually retiring after 30 years. Later in life, Viola and Marvin Becker came together as companions and enjoyed eight years together. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Viola enjoyed cooking, baking, going out to lunch with friends, playing cards and bingo. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Casper; son, Donald; brothers, Joseph Turchin and LeRoy Turchin; sisters, Beatrice Lyson, Angie Berkland, Helen Larson, and Rosie McLaughlin.

Viola is survived by her three children, Renee Schmidt of Henning, Russell Becker of Vining, and Jolene (Wayne) Schwartz of Vining; four grandchildren, Julie Schmidt, Christian Schmidt, Cortney (Nathan) Limanen, and Dylan Schwartz; two step-grandchildren, Adam (Erika) Schwartz and Aaron (Alicia) Schwartz; three great-grandchildren, Havanna Arthur, Moses Arthur, and Civic Limanen; six step-great-grandchildren William, Houston, and Cooper Schwartz and Harlan, Preston, and Arianna Schwartz; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
