Mark B. Jahnke, age 62, of Alexandria, died unexpectedly of natural causes in his home on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

An auto-view visitation will be 3-6 p.m., Sunday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 18, 2020, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria with Rev. Bruce Laabs officiating for immediate family only. The service will be live streamed on Mark’s obituary page on the funeral home website.  The service will also be broadcast for those in attendance in the funeral home parking lot by tuning into 105.3 FM.

Mark Brian was born on July 14, 1957, to Darold and Norma (Laabs) Jahnke in Parkers Prairie.  He was baptized on August 11, 1957, by his grandfather, Rev. Herman H. Laabs, pastor at the time at Zion Lutheran Church in North Effington, rural Parkers Prairie where he was later confirmed. Mark graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1975.  He attended Moorhead Technical School and graduated in 1976, with chef training.  Following his education, he was married to Shirley Doering.  Following their marriage, they lived in Parkers Prairie where their two sons were born. He worked as a chef at the Holiday Inn in Fergus Falls and at Skelly Truck Stop in Alexandria.  He began working as a meat cutter in February of 1980, at Pete’s Super Value in Viking Plaza Mall.  It eventually became Pete’s County Market, and he worked there until January of 2010.  Mark was united in marriage to Michele Johnson on October 26, 1985, in Alexandria, where they made their home. He began working for Elden’s in March of 2010, until he retired in May of 2019. Mark was a member of the Parkers Prairie Jaycees in his earlier years. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Alexandria.  He enjoyed playing in the Resorters Softball League with his brothers and son for over 25 years. Mark also enjoyed golfing, bowling, dart league, basketball, and volleyball. Mark was an avid Minnesota sports fan, especially the Vikings, Twins and Timberwolves. He especially loved watching his grandkids playing sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mark is survived by his wife of 34 years, Michele; two sons, Jay (Paige) Jahnke of Albertville  and Ross (Jessica) Jahnke of Mayer; three brothers, Michael (Debra) Jahnke of Parkers Prairie, Allan (Sue) Jahnke, and James (Margee) Jahnke both of Alexandria, sister, Julie (Chris) Nelson of Minneapolis; six grandchildren, Cail, Taylah, Quin, Kenley, Hope and Bryn; five nieces, Jennifer, Patti, Jessica, Becky and Jade.

Honorary Urn bearers are his beloved grandchildren.
