Mandy L. Schmidt

Mandy L. Schmidt, age 35, of Alexandria, formerly of Parkers Prairie, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at St. William’s Catholic Church in Parkers Prairie with Fr. Peter VanderWeyst officiating. Music provided by Kim Byrne. Interment is at the church cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m., with a 7:15 rosary followed with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, Monday, July 8, at St. William’s Catholic Church. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service.

Mandy Lin was born on August 17, 1983, to Doug and Melinda (Steidl) Schmidt at the Parkers Prairie Hospital. She was the oldest of five children growing up on the family farm. Mandy graduated from Parkers Prairie High School. She continued her education at Alexandria Technical College. Mandy was passionate about cooking and would make “special meals” for her Mom and Dad. Her cooking employed her at various restaurants. She had a passion for making the best tasting meals and this talent showed through in the presentation and delivery. To indulge in or experience one of her culinary creations was a true treat. Mandy was united in marriage to Joseph Rud in 2005. Mandy was fun loving, witty and had an outgoing personality. Mandy wore her heart on her sleeve but didn’t like to show it because she was the oldest and wanted to take care of everyone. She loved her family and especially loved hearing about her niece and nephew. Mandy enjoyed playing cards (Whist and Texas Hold’em), hunting and especially fishing. She looked forward to May 1st, to spear as many suckers as she could.  Mandy was known for her remarkably good shot, whether hunting in the woods or shooting pool with friends.  Mandy often made the boys jealous by beating them in a round of clay pigeons. She will be dearly missed by everyone that had the chance to meet her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald and Minerva Schmidt and Tim Steidl; and godfather, Scott Steidl.

Mandy is survived by her parents, Doug and Melinda Schmidt; two brothers, Derick Schmidt and Dustin Schmidt; two sisters, Mindy (Jesse) Meissner and Monica (Nate) Stein; niece, Teagan; nephew, Trent; grandmother, Ella Steidl; special friend, Chance Amelsberg; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Pallbearers are Chance Amelsberg, Sonny Schmidt, Gary Schmidt, Dewy Schmidt, Leroy Ahlers and Joseph Gjerde. Honorary pallbearers are Teagan Stein, Trent Stein, Gary Steidl, Ella Steidl, Vergene Hartfiel, Renee Schmidt and Stan Dittberner.
