Lucille M. Hilgren, age 92, of Parkers Prairie, died on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Elmo Lutheran Cemetery in Elmo Township with Pastor Rachel Stout officiating. Please honor all COVID-19 health mandates, including social distancing and wearing of facial coverings.

Lucille Margaret Simonson was born on April 21, 1928, to Edward and Helga (Olson) Simonson in Elmo Township. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Drage at Elmo Lutheran Church. Lucille attended eight years of grade school at District #27, Almora. She graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1946. In June of 1940, Lucille lost her mother and stayed on the farm with her Dad while working part time as a waitress. She was united in marriage to Carold Hilgren on November 26, 1947, at Esther Lutheran Church in Eastern Township by Rev. C.E.T. Peterson. Carold and Lucille farmed for four years. In 1952, they moved to Parkers Prairie and Carold bought a half interest in Northwood Spec Co. with his brother. On January 24, 1952, their first-born son, Steven, was born and on January 24, 1958, their second son, Thomas, was born. Lucille was a stay-at-home mom. Her family and home were the most important things in her life. She enjoyed working at church, volunteering for the Red Cross Bloodmobile for many years, and being a member of the Busy Bella Homemakers Club for over 40 years. She also enjoyed crafts, embroidery, flowers, and gardening. In her later years, her greatest love was her two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carold; infant son; and brother-in-law, Larro, Jerry, and Denny.

Lucille is survived by her two sons, Steven Hilgren of Parkers Prairie and Thomas (Robyn) Hilgren of Chatfield; two grandchildren, Erik and Bailey; sisters-in-law, Janice (John) Tennyson, Darlene Hilgren, and Mary Hilgren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials are preferred to Elmo Lutheran Church.
