Karen Meyer

Karen E. Meyer, age 72, of Alexandria, died Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Edgewood Vista in Alexandria.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at the Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria with Pastor Pete Reishus officiating. Private family burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Starbuck.

Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

Karen Elaine Dickhoff was born to Rudolph and Irene (Jost) Dickhoff on April 19,1946. She grew up in the town of Belgrade, MN.

Karen married David Erickson on June 19, 1965.  To this union were born four children, Carol, Deborah, Jerome and Alana.  Karen and David divorced in 1983, but remained good friends up until his death on May 4, 2016.

On June 11, 1983, Karen married Donald Meyer in Starbuck, MN. Don was Karen's soulmate and the light of her life.  They had 17 wonderful years together before Don passed away of cancer 22 years ago.

Karen did many great things in her life when it came to employment.  She worked at Schwegman's Cleaners in Willmar, Country Kitchen in Morris, Steven and Pope County Home Health, Manager of Cyrus Supply, Petro Plus in Starbuck and as a loan secretary at United Southwest Bank in Marshall, MN.

Karen was the most spiritual person and conveyed that in every aspect of her life.  She was a St. Stephen Minister; on the Altar Guild, Confirmation and Sunday School teacher; Bible study leader and sang in the church choir.  Karen's kind and caring ways and her beautiful smile could always light up a room and make things better.

For health reasons, Karen moved to Edgewood Vista in Alexandria 5 years ago.  The first day she walked in it felt like home to her.  She was the bingo caller and enjoyed spending time with the other residents and staff and always volunteered when needed. This past Valentines Day she was crowned the Queen of Edgewood Vista.  She was so proud and excited for that moment.

Karen will be missed for the tremendous love she had for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was the best mom we could ever ask for!  As we would leave she would say "I love you"; Alana would say, "I love you more" and Carol would chime in with, "I love you the mostest".  We love you mom and will miss you with all of our hearts!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Meyer; parents, Rudy and Irene Dickhoff; brother, Michael Dickhoff; and son-in-law, Byron Iverson.

Karen is survived by her four children, Carol Iverson of Glenwood, Debbi Erickson and Jerome (Tammy) Erickson both of Willmar, and Alana (Dean Razink) Erickson of Farwell; brother, Robert (Judy) Dickhoff; sister, Beth (Roger) Theis; sister-in-law, JoClaire (Roger) Pederson; six grandchildren, Kayla, Steven (Nikki), Alyssa, Kelsi (Kent), Samantha (Sean), and Brody; five great-grandchildren, Aerabella, ToriAnn, Josie, Adalynn, Weston, and baby Axel on the way; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
