Juanita M. Thoen

Juanita M. Thoen, age 82, of Alexandria, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Edgewood in Alexandria.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2019, at New Testament Church in Alexandria with Pastor Pete Reishus officiating. Interment will take place at Reno Mission Cemetery near Lowry.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Juanita Merie was born on January 24, 1937, to Spencer and Christine (Nichols) Cutsforth in Sand Creek, Wisconsin. After graduating high school, she attended North Central Bible College and shortly after completed her schooling to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Juanita was united in marriage to Johnny Thoen on June 9, 1962. The couple farmed and resided near Farwell, Minnesota where they raised their four children.  She was a member of New Testament Church. Juanita spent time every day reading and studying the Bible and praying.  She enjoyed singing, playing piano, freezing and canning foods, camping and meeting Johnny for lunch in the field. Juanita had a talent of whistling and when you heard her whistle you knew that everything in her world was good. She will be remembered for her positive attitude, sense of humor, and quick wit. Above all, she especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eileen; and brother, Lorenzo.

Juanita is survived by her husband of 57 years, Johnny; four children, Tammy (Jack) Zitzmann of Brandon, Tom (Tara) Thoen of Fort Collins, Colorado, Susie (Dan Wood) Thoen of Alexandria and Steve (Stephanie) Thoen of Glenwood; three sisters, Roberta (Bob) Ross of Montana, Sharon (Mike) Olin of Wisconsin, and Mary Ellen (James) Mattson of Wisconsin; brother, David (Marlyce) Cutsforth of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren, Ryan (Katy), Shaun (Sadie), Taylor, Alana, Akela, Tanner, Conner, Kizzie, Meghan, Myranda, Macabe and Makena; four great-grandchildren, Asher, Melea, Canon and Wilder; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
