Dennis C. Ramey, age 75, of Alexandria, died unexpectedly in his home on Sunday, November 1, 2020.

A private family graveside service will be held at Spruce Hill Cemetery in Spruce Hill Township with Pastor John Taplin officiating. Full military honors accorded by the Minnesota Honor Guard, American Legion Post #87, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #936, Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter #235, and the Marine Corps League Detachment #1409.

Dennis Charles was born on August 20, 1945, to Donald and June (Anderson) Ramey in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1953, the family moved to Alexandria and lived between Lake Le Homme Dieu and Lake Darling. Dennis graduated from Jefferson High School in 1963. Following his education, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed on the S.S. Warrington in the Mediterranean. Dennis was honorably discharged following three years of service. He returned to Alexandria briefly and sold insurance before moving to Minnetonka to serve as Sergeant in the Minnetonka Police Department. Dennis then moved to California and worked as a correctional officer for over 20 years. He moved back to Alexandria in the early 2000’s where he met his future bride, Margery Lusty. After 11 years of dating, she finally said yes, and they were united in marriage on October 4, 2014, at Spruce Hill Church in Spruce Hill Township. Dennis was a member of New Life Christian Church and the Eagles Aeries 3063. While in California he served as President of the Central California Vikings Fan Club and remained an avid Vikings fan for the rest of his life. Dennis enjoyed camping and fishing on the local lakes.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dennis is survived by his wife of six years, Margery; three brothers, Jeff (Joanny) Ramey of Rice, Ron Ramey of Underwood, and Bob Ramey of Alexandria; three step-children, Julie Bongers, Brian (Jen) Gulbrandson, and Kia (Tom) Woida; eight step-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
