Clarine M. Warkenthien, age 92, of Alexandria died on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Edgewood Senior Living in Alexandria.

A public visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, November 30, at Lind Family Funeral Home. Please honor all COVID-19 health mandates, including social distancing and wearing of facial coverings.

A private family funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria with Rev. John LeVahn officiating. Clarine’s funeral will be live streamed at https://www.lindfamilyfh.com/obituary/Clarine-Warkenthien and broadcast live on 105.3 FM Radio to cars parked in the funeral home parking lot. Interment is at Evergreen Cemetery, Alexandria.

Clarine Mae was born on June 25, 1928, to Ernest and Elsie (Young) Evans on the family farm near Garden City, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Garden City. Clarine attended country school in Garden City and Clark, South Dakota and graduated from Garden City High School in 1946. She continued her education at Hennepin County General Hospital in Minneapolis for Radiology training. Following her education she worked at the Harry Bartron Clinics in Clark and Watertown, South Dakota. Clarine was united in marriage to Virgil Warkenthien on December 21, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Garden City. They farmed near Garden City, Clark, and Hayti, South Dakota. In 1960, they moved to Alexandria where she worked at the Runestone (Broadway) Clinic and retired in 1992. They enjoyed spending many summers taking their horses on trail rides to various areas in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, belonged to two camping clubs, and enjoyed years of square dancing together. They also spent many years in Florida and Arizona where Clarine sang with the choir and in many musicals. She was a member of the Alexandria Covenant Church where she was a previous choir member, Sunday School teacher, church board member, enjoyed attending bible study and folding church bulletins. Clarine also enjoyed volunteering at the nursing home, camping, going for walks, reading and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; and sister, Ernestine Roby.

Clarine is survived by her children, DeAnn Myers of Rapid City, South Dakota, Douglas Warkenthien of Woodbury and Rebecca (Mark) McCabe of Alexandria; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Mike) Lukkes, Jessica (Brad) Bookbinder, Justin (Faith) Warkenthien, Chelsea Warkenthien, Branden (Breanna) McCabe, Travis McCabe and Nicholas McCabe; and seven great-granchildren.

Pallbearers are her grandchildren.
