Following the diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis for her husband, Beverly returned to school to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree. She taught elementary in Appleton for a few years before they purchased their farm in Glenwood. Beverly taught first grade at Norgard Elementary School in Glenwood and during the summer months pursued a Master of Education Degree from St. Cloud State. She retired after 43 years of teaching and was always protecting and encouraging the overlooked student. She loved music and in her 60’s took piano lessons and in her 80’s, guitar lessons. Beverly was a consummate learner and earned her pilot’s license, flying solo and with her husband, Harold. She was a member of East Zion Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, played in the bell choir, and served as a deacon. Beverly was a member of the National Education Association, Minnesota Education Association, Terrace Mill Foundation and Flying Farmers Club. She was a former secretary of Pope County Triad and a volunteer at the Starbuck Depot. She enjoyed going to auctions, braiding rugs, shopping for Christmas presents, flower gardening and keeping her yard well decorated and manicured. Beverly collected Watt Ware Pottery and over 2000 Golden Books. Her legacy will remain as an educational supportive grandmother and great-grandmother.
