Yvonne B. Holte, age 84, of Alexandria, fell asleep here on earth and woke up in the arms of Jesus, Tuesday, December 2, 2025. How do we know this? Because she believed that he died on the cross for her sins. She repented and turned her life in obedience to Him and she made Him her Lord and Savior. John 11:25-26 "Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”
A memorial service is 10 a.m., on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Lake Community Church in Alexandria with Rev. CJ Nissen presiding. Interment will take place at Mound Grove Cemetery, Evansville.
The visitation is 5-7 p.m., with a 6 p.m., prayer service and time of sharing, on Friday, December 12th at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Yvonne was born on June 8, 1941, to Albert and Marian (Dahlgren) Anderson in Bird Island. Living most of her life in Evansville, she grew up as an active member of the Calvary Covenant Church, 4-H and various school clubs. When she was 18, she married Trueman Holte, also of Evansville, and they began their lives together in an apartment above the old bank. Yvonne was a housewife, and a mother, joining Trueman as he farmed the land her own father had worked for many years. As the kids got a little older, she entered the work world with jobs as a school paraprofessional in Evansville, and later, as a clerk at the WIC office in Alexandria. Yvonne was dedicated to serving Christ first through her work at Calvary Covenant Church and to the community of Evansville as a VBS director, Choir director, Release time teacher, 4-H leader, as well as working with the youth group, choir and leading several Bible studies. Her favorite pastime was teaching children about Jesus. She exemplified the priorities of God first, family second and work as a necessary means to accomplish the rest. With their children grown and moved away, Trueman and Yvonne decided to move near Lake Mary. They needed a huge home to get everyone in for Christmas, so Trueman built a loft over a newly constructed garage, and the place was filled from top to bottom with family during the holidays. They became members of Lake Community Church with the understanding that having a community of believers was essential to their own spiritual growth
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Eileen (Stan) Nelson, and Tassie (Sid) Satterlie.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Trueman Holte; children, Douglas (Celia) Holte of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Cheryl (Larry) Schaeffer of Yankton, South Dakota, Kristal (Todd) Cullen of Brooklyn Park, and Lori (Ken) Schaeffer of Lesterville, South Dakota; brother, Bud (Ruth) Anderson of Alexandria; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Yvonne lived a very full life. One that was filled with blessings. Her lifelong Bible verse was “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3.” She will be missed by many, but we take comfort in the fact that she has now found “perfect peace.”
Yvonne’s family wants to thank the medical teams, dialysis nurses and dialysis friends, and the Hospice team for all of their help and care.
Urnbearers will be her grandchildren.
