Wilma F. Eliason, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, in Alexandria, Minnesota.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Apple River Community Church in Amery, WI. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the Memorial Service at the Church. Wilma will be interred next to her brother Wenzel at Free Mission Cemetery in Apple River Township, Polk County, WI.
Wilma Florence Malmquist was born on September 18, 1934, in Amery, Wisconsin. She was the cherished daughter of Oscar and Edna Malmquist. As well as a sister to: Wenzel, Beverly and Joan. Wilma's journey through life was characterized by her sweet and caring demeanor, a trait that touched everyone she encountered.
Throughout her life, Wilma embraced her roles with grace and dedication. She devoted herself as a homemaker, tirelessly raising three wonderful children: Dave, Kevin, and Barb Eliason. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own children, as she found joy in helping to watch her grandchildren, providing love and support that would shape their lives. In addition to her family commitments, Wilma also worked as a nurse's aide in Morris, Minnesota, where her compassionate nature made a significant impact on the lives of those she cared for.
Education was important to Wilma, who attended school and graduated high school in Amery, WI. Her thirst for knowledge reflected in her hobbies and interests; she was a talented seamstress and a passionate reader. Her love for her faith community shone brightly as she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and volunteered as a foster grandma at Voyager Elementary.
As we remember Wilma Florence Eliason, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with compassion, warmth, and an enduring love that transcends the boundaries of time. Her legacy lives on in her family, her kindness resonates in the lives she touched, and her spirit will forever be cherished.
Wilma is survived by her loving children, Dave (Tracey) Eliason, Kevin (Deborah) Eliason, Barb Erickson; siblings, Beverly Cree and Joan Talmadge; grandchildren: Josh Heintzelman, Andy (Lauren) Eliason, Callie Olson, Erik Eliason, Rachel (Chris Shelton) Eliason, Brita Eliason and Isabelle Erickson; four grandchildren: Callen Eliason, Millie Eliason and Henry Harlow and one more granddaughter expected in July; along with many other nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Edna Malmquist, and her brother, Wenzel Malmquist. She is also reunited in eternity with her granddaughter, Melissa Heintzelman, and her brothers-in-law, Don Talmadge and Jerry Cree.
Although she has left this earth, the memories of her laughter, her gentle spirit, and her profound love for her family will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
