William Jerome

William Edward "Bill" Jerome, age 67, of Parkers Prairie, died peacefully at home, Saturday, June 19, 2010.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Maureen Diedrich and Dan Wilken and friends. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Eagle Bend.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Monday at the Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

William Edward Jerome was born October 28, 1942, to William A. and Evelyn K. (Collins) Jerome in Alexandria, Minnesota. He was baptized at the hospital and confirmed at St. Williams Catholic Church in Parkers Prairie. He grew up on a farm north of Miltona and graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963, and the Reserves until his honorable discharge on June 30, 1966. He graduated from Mechanical Drafting at M.D.T. in Detroit Lakes in June of 1966. He was united in marriage to Elmyra Peery on August 16, 1969, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend. He graduated from Alexandria Technical College for carpentry in 1970, and worked as a self-employed carpenter. They lived in Parkers Prairie from 1972, until 1985, when they moved to live and work as a carpenter near Nashville, Tennessee. They returned to Parkers Prairie in 1989, where he continued working in carpentry. He retired in 2006, after working 12 years at Homecrest Furniture in Wadena. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, crossword puzzles, playing guitar, dobro, autoharp and playing in bluegrass and old-time bands.

Bill is survived by his wife, Elmyra; daughter, Kara (Kurt) Bakken of Hewitt; two sons, Tate (Heather) Jerome of Parkers Prairie and Ward (Paige Olberding) Jerome of South St. Paul; brother, Robert (June) Jerome of Rozet, Wyoming; sister, Mary (Clifford) Perry of Miltona; brother-in-law, Luther Westad of Parkers Prairie; five grandchildren, Franchesca Bakken, Sophie Bakken, Madelynn Jerome, Alivia Jerome and Ozzy Jerome; along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Sharon Jerome and Barbara Westad; and his father-in-law, Frank Peery.

Urnbearer will be Luther Westad.
