Vivian “Margie” (Luczak) Thoreson, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, with her family by her side.
Vivian Margaret was born in Duluth on December 2, 1940, the youngest of ten children to Anthony and Agnes (LaBuda) Luczak. Her mother died during childbirth, so, Margie, at the age of 80 years old, has now met her mother for the first time.
Margie graduated from Central High School in 1959. Following her education, Margie had four children and while raising them, worked in the Library of Proctor High School. After a 35 + year career working, she retired in 2006, but never lost touch with all her wonderful PHS friends. She was lovingly referred to as “Mrs. T” by many generations of PHS students.
Family, Friends and Faith were what mattered most to Margie. A member of United Lutheran Church, she cherished her church family and time spent with “The Quilters”. She was blessed to be part of a large close-knit family. Gatherings with her sisters “The Gidgets” and large extended family were frequent, lively, and fun! She was the “Best Mom Ever” and there was nothing on this earth she loved more than her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Stella (Erickson) Luczak; brothers, Chester Luczak and Lenard (Fern) Luczak; sisters, Lucille (Robert) Zimbeck, Phyllis (LeRoy) Peterson, and Bernice “Dodo” (Leo) Zelazny; brother-in-law, Calvin Bohren; and stepbrothers, Donald (Joan) Erickson and Thomas Erickson.
Margie is survived by her son, Kenneth (Meg) Thoreson; three daughters, Karen (Mark) Frey, Kristine Thoreson (whom fondly referred to Margie as her “significant mother”) and Kathryn (Fred) Klokonos; four grandchildren, Olivia Frey, Maria (Travis) Murphy, Freddie Klokonos and Varon Klokonos; four sisters, Patty (Don) Parzych, Marie Luczak, Gerry Bohren, and Audrey (Jerry) Michelizzi; sister-in-law, Helen Luczak; stepsister-in-law, Leif Erickson; along with many beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Arvold and Dr. Sandy Popham for countless years of excellent care, the caring staff at Fresenius Kidney Center and the amazing ICU team on 6 West of St. Luke’s Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, October 8, 2021, at United Lutheran Church of Proctor with the Rev. Elizabeth Davis presiding. Music will be provided by pianist, Dennis Palm. Please honor all Covid mandates, including wearing a mask. Private interment will take place at Polish Catholic Cemetery, Duluth.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.
Everyone is invited to the Proctor Moose Lodge for a time of lunch and fellowship immediately following services at the church.
