Viola Hultstrand

Viola Hultstrand, age 90 of Alexandria, formerly of rural Rose City passed
away early Saturday morning at the Knute-Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria, MN.
Viola was born on August 23, 1920 in Spruce Hill Township to Louis and
Annie (Anderson) Rosell. In addition to her schooling and helping on the
family farm, Viola did housekeeping services for area families. On
January 9, 1941, she was united in marriage to Bernhardt Hultstrand in Parkers
Prairie. They farmed and raised their family near Rose City, then later moving
to Alexandria in 1979.
Viola was a woman of strong faith and served the Lord in many different ministries at Rose City Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed writing poetry and wrote many family letters. Family and friends always received the perfect card for each special occasion. She raised a large vegetable garden each year, sharing much and preserving the remainder. An all-time favorite were her prized berries. She was an excellent cook, baker, seamstress and
quilter. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh while spending time with her family. Other favorite past times included playing piano and singing. She played a mean game of scrabble and kept her mind sharp by doing crossword puzzles. Viola was a kind and loving
mother, grandmother and sister, leaving a legacy of faith and love.
