Verna Mae (Walther) Kaeding

 November 30, 1935 through August 16, 2024

Our most loving angel was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 16, 2024.

She is now a part of the Heavenly choir along with her husband, Lorin, just like the day they first met in church choir on February 19, 1958, and celebrating what would have been their 66th wedding anniversary on 08-17-24.

Verna was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, confidante. She loved with her whole heart and welcomed all, including strangers, into her heart, always trusting, giving the benefit of the doubt. She was no pushover but if anyone showed grace, compassion, forgiveness, and mercy, it was her.

She smiled and laughed wholeheartedly and easily. She was so easy to care for and to please. Slow to anger but quick with love, hugs, and smiles.

She loved teaching, gardening, canning, reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting, sewing, but most of all, she loved God and her family and friends. Children and animals were especially drawn to her, probably sensing the kind, caring, and nurturing essence of her, feeling safe and protected.

We could write a novel on the beauty, kindness, and loving nature of this angel. Precious memories that will last forever to warm our hearts and souls.

Even in her final days of pain, she was more concerned about the feelings and welfare of others.

She is the epitome of love. She is still teaching all of us life lessons just by being herself. She teaches us about selflessness, faith, kindness, politeness, graciousness, patience, acceptance, true love and forgiveness. Our angel will always be remembered for her sweet and loving heart. And she always had the cutest little girl giggle that everyone fell in love with. Even in her sleep, she was giggling. Lots and lots of giggles! What a truly joyful, happy lady!

She was preceded in death by many and survived by more. There will be no formal service but her children invite you to share photos, memories, and laughter at Lind Family Funeral Home, 1623 10th Ave E, Alexandria, on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Mom was non-judgmental and did not believe in putting on airs and she would want everyone to be comfortable so please come as you are. Please come together for a celebration of a life well lived that was full of love and laughter. "As Mom would say, 'Well, thank you.' "

We would like to thank the staff at Bethany on the Lake and Douglas County Hospice for the most compassionate, attentive, loving care they showed our mom during this last week. Truly amazing, special people who know their calling and are willing to put others first.

Memorials preferred to Douglas County Hospice.

There will be a private celebration of life in the near future.

We take comfort in knowing our angel is free of earthly encumbrances and is safe in our Heavenly Father’s loving arms. Until we meet again, our dear, sweet mom.
