Toby C. Olson, age 57, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 5, 2026 (Easter), at Nelson Care Center, following a long battle with cancer.

In honoring Toby’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at his favorite camping grounds near Alexandria.

Toby Carl was born on March 28, 1969, to Keith and Joan (Peterson) Olson in Alexandria. He grew up in the Carlos area and graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria in 1987. He continued his education at Alexandria Technical College, earning a degree in welding, and was quickly known for his skill and attention to detail in his work.

Toby will be remembered for his unselfish generosity, gentle humor, unwavering devotion to his family and friends, and the quiet strength of his Christian faith. He never forgot a birthday or holiday, faithfully sending cards year after year. Toby loved fishing and spent countless hours at the Carlos Dam or anywhere he could wet a line. He also enjoyed ceramics with his friends at PLS/Bridgeport, making many works of art. Toby followed the Minnesota Twins and Vikings closely, and fishing was always a favorite topic of conversation.

Toby's warmth, humor, and kindness touched all who knew him and will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Mark.

Toby is survived by his siblings, Keith, Kim, Mike, Pete, and Mia; along with many nieces and nephews.
