Terri Lyn Gaarsland, age 57, of Miltona, died unexpectedly Sunday, February 21, 2021, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 26, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home website and broadcast on 105.3 FM Radio to cars in the parking lot.

Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church. Please honor all COVID-19 health mandates, including social distancing and wearing of facial coverings.

Terri was born on July 10, 1963, in Alexandria to George and Leatrice (Peffer) Thorpe.  She grew up in Millerville where she attended Seven Dolors Parochial School in Millerville, later attending Brandon Public School, graduating in 1981.  Following her education she was united in marriage to Timothy Ray Gaarsland on June 22, 1982, in Alexandria. They were blessed with four children. Terri remained at home to raise her family and later began working as manager and cook at Sunny’s Fireside Restaurant in Alexandria.  She also worked as cook and beverage cart operator for the Alexandria Golf Club for many years.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie.  She enjoyed spending time going to auctions and garage sales, fishing, playing bingo and traveling to casinos. Terri cared for family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Tim in 2016; and daughter, Tonya.

Terri is survived by her fiancée, Steven Beheng of Miltona; two sons, Todd (Kayla) Gaarsland and Ryan “Hoss” (girlfriend, Ann) Gaarsland both of Parkers Prairie; daughter, Nicole (Grant) Bettermann of Miltona; brother, Gary (Debbie) Thorpe of Osakis; three sisters, Carol (Rick) Maxwell of Alexandria, Bonnie (Steve) Nordlund of Urbank and Mary Kay (Randy) Feeks of Alexandria;  4 grandchildren, Marvin Bettermann, Kason Gaarsland, Callen Gaarsland and Baby to be Bettermann; many nieces, nephews, other relatives.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren.
