Steven K. Senst, age 73, of Alexandria, died on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11a.m., on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Church of St. Mary in Alexandria with Fr. Dan Ruprecht presiding. Music is provided by cantor, Erin Takle, accompanied by Jody Koubsky. Full military honors will be accorded by the Minnesota Honor Guard, American Legion Post #87, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #936, Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter #235, and the Marine Corps League Detachment #1409. Interment will take place at the church cemetery.
The visitation is 4-6 p.m., on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Steven Ken was born on October 21, 1951, to Kenneth and Elaine (Pletsch) Senst in Rochester, Minnesota. He grew up in Bloomington where he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. He attended Alexandria Technical College studying production agriculture before serving in the US Army in Germany as an MP from 1972-1973. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Alexandria Technical College and completed his truck driving certificate. Steven was united in marriage to Mathilda Vogel on June 17, 1972, at St. James Catholic Church in Maine, Minnesota. He was an over the road truck driver for Minnesota based companies for his entire career until a work injury led to his early retirement in 2011. He and his wife lived in the Alexandria/Forada area for 52 years. Steven was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #493, in Bloomington. His hobbies included deer hunting, talking about farming, driving to check out local friend’s farms and helping where needed. Steve enjoyed discussing politics, playing cards at the Muddy Boot, and watching YouTube videos on tractors, cars, and farming. He also enjoyed attending his grandchild’s school activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister, Susan.
Steven is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mathilda; daughter, Dawn Hamelau of Wadena; son, Wayne (Brianna) Senst of Sauk Centre; sister, Michelle (Gary) Zauner of Fountain Hills, Arizona; two brothers, Bruce (Deb) Senst of Eagan and Greg (Rena) Senst of Wilhoit, Arizona; grandchild, Megan Hamelau of Wadena; along with numerous extended family, and a host of friends.
Urn bearers are Bruce Senst, Greg Senst, Gary Zauner, and Frank Vogel.
