Obituary

Sherryl M. Suchy, age 70, of Parkers Prairie, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at Long Prairie Hospital, surrounded by her devoted family.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria. Interment will take place at a later date.

Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

Sherryl Marlene was born on November 26, 1955, the cherished daughter of LeRoy and Doris (Larson) Johnson in Bismarck, North Dakota. The family moved to a farm near Barrett, where Sherryl was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Sherryl graduated from Barrett High School in 1974 and furthered her education at Alexandria Technical College, where she studied to become a legal secretary. Her career path, however, led her back to her roots as she dedicated many years to working on the family farm. Sherryl later brought her strong work ethic and passion for community to her role at Barrel of Fun in Parkers Prairie and continued with the company after its relocation to Perham.

Sherryl was united in marriage to the love of her life, Allen Suchy, on December 9, 1990, in a heartfelt ceremony at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter. Sherryl was a devoted mother to her daughter, Cassie, and stepson, Benji, whom she cherished deeply. Her family was her pride and joy, and she found immense happiness in the simple pleasures of life, especially those shared with her loved ones.

Sherryl had a profound love for the outdoors and was most at peace when she was on the farm, surrounded by nature. Her compassionate spirit was evident in her dedication to family, especially in the tender care she provided to her mother during her struggles with Alzheimer’s disease. Sherryl was a beacon of warmth and empathy, offering comfort to everyone she met.

As we remember Sherryl’s life, we honor her enduring love, her gentle heart, and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to be touched by her kindness and grace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy Johnson and Doris Waugh; brother DelRoy Johnson; and sister Cyndi Nelson.

Sherryl is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Allen; two children, Cassie and Benji both of Parkers Prairie; brother, Wayne (Chris) Johnson of Clear Lake; along with a host of other family and friends.
