Sharon Loretta Johnson

Sharon L. Johnson, age 81, of Alexandria, formerly of Wadena, died with her family by her side on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Autumn Cottages in Alexandria, under the care of Vivie Hospice.

A service for Sharon will be held in the spring.

Sharon Loretta was born on July 21, 1943, one of eight children, to Jim and Loretta (Uttermark) Gould in Wadena. She was a beloved hairstylist and owned her own salon, Hair Care, for over 30 years. Clients followed her for decades from the BeautyWalk to her first then second salon. Sharon was gregarious and well loved, by all who had the privilege to meet her. She was very athletic. She was an avid golfer and bowler. Sharon actually won a golfing trophy in the men’s category much to the chagrin of the other 70s- era contestants. She played softball on a championship winning team where she met her future husband, Bruce. He was, in fact, who was the coach of the team. They were united in marriage on April 2, 1976, in the Twin Cities. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She and Bruce enjoyed many years at their cabin on Lake Osakis and winters in Texas, where they created many friendships. Family was of the utmost importance to Sharon, and she attended every family function that she could. She especially enjoyed hosting family holidays, the more the merrier. Sharon enjoyed her many adventures in travel with her daughter Angela and outings with her son Tony and his family. She will long be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and six siblings.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bruce; daughter, Angela Horn of Miami, Florida; son, Anthony (Christine) Horn of Grant Park, Illinois; brother, Mike (Patty) Gould of Alexandria; three grandchildren, Emma, Luke, and Nicholas; and many nieces, nephews and relatives.
