Sandra Fay (Krause) Ammerman, age 74, of Alexandria, formerly of Las Vegas, Nevada, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 30, 2020, at Knute Nelson Care Center under the loving care of Knute Nelson Hospice.
Sandy was born on August 14, 1945, to Martin and Martha (Hoffman) Krause in Bertha, Minnesota. Sandy was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend. She was raised in Eagle Bend with her sisters, Lorraine and Janet. The family also lived in Blooming Prairie and Owatonna. Sandy graduated from Owatonna High School in 1963. She then attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis to earn a degree to be a private secretary.
Sandy was united in marriage for 13 years to Edward Ammerman on June 21, 1969, where the two made their home in Las Vegas. Sandy worked as an Administrative Assistant to the President at the Union Plaza Hotel in downtown Las Vegas. Sandy took great pride in this position and was able to see some of her favorite stars such as John Wayne, Liberace, and George Burns to name a few. Sandy had a beautiful voice and music and theatre were a big part of her life. She used her gift of voice to entertain others and was fortunate to perform on a cruise ship with her singing group. She was actively involved with her church choir and was a member of the Tropicana Christian Fellowship Church in Las Vegas.
Sandy, also known as “Aunt Sandy”, will always be remembered for her kind heart and the way she always remembered everyone by sending a birthday card. She was a snazzy woman with a lot of class, always dressed to the nines with beautiful matching jewelry.
Sandy became ill while living in Las Vegas and moved back to Alexandria to spend the last year of her life near her family. Her family is grateful for the wonderful, loving and compassionate care given by the staff at the Knute Nelson Care Center and Knute Nelson Hospice. She will be dearly missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lorraine Williams; and brother-in-law, Ken Hadley.
Sandy is survived by her sister, Jan Hadley of Parkers Prairie; brother-in-law, Joe Williams of Huntington Station, New York; nephews, Greg (Denise) Hadley of Parkers Prairie, Scott (Deb) Hadley of Alexandria and Marty (Roseangela) Williams of South Carolina; niece, Belinda Williams of Huntington Station, New York; and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service was held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Eagle Bend on May 2, 2020.
