Ruth E. (Larson) Peterson, age 102, resident of Knute Nelson Home, formerly of Miltona, died Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2011, at Faith Lutheran Church in Miltona with Rev. Kari van Wakeren officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Kevin Lee. Burial will take place at Spruce Hill Cemetery, Spruce Hill Township.
Ruth Elizabeth (Larson) Peterson was born April 24, 1909, in Parkers Prairie, daughter of Karl and Anna Larson. She graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1929. She was united in marriage to Thorsten Peterson on January 1, 1930, in Parkers Prairie. Following their marriage, Ruth and Thorsten farmed in Spruce Hill Township until 1968, when they moved into Miltona. Ruth was an active member of Spruce Hill Lutheran Church in Spruce Hill Township and Faith Lutheran Church in Miltona. She enjoyed sharing her gift of hospitality by baking for others and entertaining her family and friends. She liked to read, but most important to her was the time spent with family and friends.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Shirley Myren of Miltona, Mary Inwards of Parkers Prairie and Ann (Don) Oberg of Miltona; one son, Dan (Susan) Peterson of Janesville, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thorsten in 1993; three brothers; four sisters; two sons-in-law; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Don Myren, Ron Myren, Steven Inwards, David Inwards, Harlan Oberg, Tim Oberg, Jeff Oberg and Eric Peterson.
