Russell W. Rustad, age 81, of Parkers Prairie, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Jonathan Sorum officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Dean Swanson. Burial will take place at Swedish Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Russell Warren Rustad was born September 1, 1931, to Ole C. and Anna M. (Anderson) Rustad in Pelican Lake Township, Grant County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed July 27, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Free Church in Ashby. He attended District #9, Country School. Following his education, he was a farmhand in the Erdahl and Ashby area and worked for a short time for the Great Northern Rail Road. Russell was united in marriage to Nola Elizabeth Ulsby July 27, 1963, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie. Following their marriage, he worked for Northwood Specialties and as a farmhand in the Parkers Prairie area. Following his retirement, he helped with the Green Thumb program and worked as a custodian at St. William's Living Center. Russell was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. His hobbies included fishing, rummage sales and scratch off.
Russell is survived by his son, Curtis (Ann) Rustad of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Paul Rustad of Fergus Falls; sister, Betty Rustad of Fergus Falls; two brothers-in-law, Andy (Jeanette) Ulsby of Becker and Joe (Sue) Ulsby of Cloquet; three sisters-in-law, Joanne Rustad of Bloomington, Marlene Rustad of Tower and Shirley Olson of Ashby; two grandsons, Brian Ferry of Lewiston, Idaho and Kevin Ferry of Anchorage, Alaska; along with nephews, nieces and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Nola; brothers, Carlton, Orvin and Richard; and sister, Sylvia.
Pallbearers will be Luther Anderson, Donald Zuehlke, Steve Benson, John Olson, David Rustad and Scott Ulsby.
