Roberta Alpha Anderson was born August 2, 1925, in Parkers Prairie, the daughter of Alfred Theodore Anderson and Mildred Blanche (Hadley) Anderson. She was baptized at home in 1936, and confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1940. She started school in Alexandria and finished her schooling in Parkers Prairie after the family moved there. She was a member of the Parkers Prairie graduating class of 1943. After high school she worked in Parkers Prairie at Anderson's Café, which her father owned.

Roberta "Sis" married Roy Duane "Buster" Barrows on March 17, 1946, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church parsonage. After their marriage she continued to work at Anderson's Café, later worked at Smith's Bakery and Local Gas Co., retiring at age 70.

She maintained her ties to First Evangelical Lutheran throughout her life and was active in its Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Miltona V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, baking and cooking. She will be remembered for her spunk, the smile she freely shared and, as one of her sons noted, "her art of diplomacy".
