Robert L. "Bob" Nephew, age 81, of Parkers Prairie, died Sunday, January 23, 2011, at St. William's Living Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 28, 2011, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Jonathan Sorum officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Marcia Guenther. Burial will take place at Doncaster Cemetery in Granite Falls, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Robert Leroy Nephew was born March 4, 1929, to Roy and Ruth (Morgan) Nephew in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized on March 25, 1947, and confirmed at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. He grew up in Granite Falls and graduated from Granite Falls High School. Following his education he served in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Corporal during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal and U.S. Service Medal. Following his honorable discharge he served as a game warden and later returned to Granite Falls where he co-owned a body shop. His first wife, Marcine Podoll died during childbirth. He was united in marriage to Zelda Rude in 1957. He was united in marriage to Helen C. Binns on October 19, 1985, at the United Methodist Church in Deer Creek, Minnesota. He owned and operated the Arrowhead Resort in Henning, Minnesota and was an electrician in Perham, Minnesota. He retired in 1994, as a Rural Mail Carrier in Underwood, Minnesota. He was a member of the American Legion in Underwood, the V.F.W. in New York Mills, the Gun Club and Golf Club in Granite Falls and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning and carpentry. He loved to read and play golf. He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa.

Bob is survived by his wife of 25 years, Helen; five daughters, Terry (David) Wieser of Battle Lake, Terry (Randy) Hindt of Lakeville, Tracy (Nick) Rice of Champlin, Kelly (Steve) Brendmoen of Montevideo and Shawn (Todd) Quick of Parkers Prairie; a son, Gene (Lori) Olson of Montevideo; a brother, David (Judy) Nephew of Raymond; two sisters, Eleanor Riddle of Glenwood and Margaret (Dale) Randt of Villard; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; first wife and daughter, Jody Lynn.

Pallbearers will be Dillon Quick, Logan Quick, Justin Sears, Jake Balcer, Josh Balcer and Jared Balcer.
