Richard Michael Keepers was born on December 15, 1947, to Glen and Helen (Lanhart) Keepers in Richfield, Minnesota. He grew up in Richfield, where he graduated from high school in 1965. He attended Hamline University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in commercial art. Following his education, Rick began his career as a produce manager in grocery stores, his first job was at the Piggly Wiggly in St. Cloud and then in Willmar. Rick was united in marriage to Barbara Drake on August 26, 1972, in St. Cloud. They spent their honeymoon in the Wisconsin Dells. Following their marriage they moved to Mankato, followed by Montevideo where they lived for 18 years. They moved to Alexandria in 1990, and Rick continued his produce manager career in both Alexandria and Glenwood before retiring in 2014. Following retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and traveling with his wife to Mexico, and Florida. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was involved with delivering “Meals on Wheels” for the last seven years in the Alexandria area. Rick loved the outdoors, waterskiing, kayaking, boating, fishing, camping (including their favorite spot “Campers Paradise” for the past 43 years), and snowmobiling. He and his grandson, Bryce had a special bond through their mutual love of technology and computers! Rick and Barb celebrated their 50th Anniversary by taking their entire family to Wisconsin Dells to celebrate, a memory which will always be cherished.
