Richard "Dick" Charles Hagstrom was born May 6, 1934, the third son to William and Clara (Johnson) Hagstrom in Upsala, Minnesota. He graduated from Upsala High School in 1952. Dick worked at his family's Chevrolet dealership from a young age and continued with his brother until 1961, when they sold the business and he enrolled at the University of Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Yvonne Kavanagh on August 11, 1962, in Appleton, Minnesota. They lived in St. Paul and Little Falls before moving to Alexandria in 1965. They owned and operated Hagstrom's and The Trolley Shop, a clothing store for children and young adults, located in downtown Alexandria and Morris and then later in the Viking Plaza. Like his father, Dick had a wide range of interests, knowledge, and skill. In business, he was a jack of all trades - from developing accounting systems to building fixtures. He was an avid learner and was compelled to figure out how to do many things on his own. His interests included reading, music, history, travel, geography, fixing and building things, old cars, gardening, landscaping, and sharing meals with friends and family. Dick and Yvonne enjoyed their two children, Kari and Steven (Tammy) and grandchildren: Lauren, Olivia, Avery and Samson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Duane (and wife, Leone) Hagstrom; and sister-in-law, Louise Hagstrom.

Dick is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Yvonne; daughter, Kari Hagstrom of Elbow Lake and son, Steven (and wife, Tammy) Hagstrom of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Lauren, Olivia, Avery and Samson Hagstrom of Alexandria; brother Lloyd Hagstrom of Upsala, along with nieces and nephews.
