Renetta "Ronnie" H. (Strunk) Moley

Renetta H. “Ronnie” (Strunk) Moley, age 95, of Alexandria, Minnesota, formerly of Morton, Illinois and Surprise, Arizona, died on Saturday, September 21, 2024, surrounded by her family, at home under the care of Knute Nelson Hospice.

 A private graveside service will be held at Morton Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Morton, Illinois.

 Renetta Helen was born on September 11, 1929, to William J. and Helen A. (Mikolajewski) Janick in Chicago, Illinois. She was baptized and confirmed into the catholic faith and graduated from high school in Chicago. Ronnie attended Illinois State University in Normal. She was united in marriage to Wayne L. Strunk on August 14, 1949, in Chicago. Following their marriage, they moved to Morton, Illinois the “Pumpkin Capital of the World” where she raised her two daughters, Jill and Kim. Ronnie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially playing cards, bowling, and traveling. She loved collecting pumpkins and Lladros sculptures. She was a member of Morton United Methodist Church. Her husband, Wayne died on August 19, 1985. She later met and married Richard C. “Dick” Moley on January 30, 1988, in Morton and had the privilege of welcoming the addition of two stepdaughters, Janet and Linda into her life. Shortly after their marriage, Dick and Ronnie moved to Surprise, Arizona. Ronnie was a member of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church in Sun City West. She enjoyed Red Hat Society, socializing, playing cards and bocce ball, shopping and dining out. Her husband, Dick died on December 13, 2021. Ronnie moved to Alexandria, Minnesota to be closer to family in April of 2022. She received excellent care and made new friendships at Grand Arbor. She especially enjoyed getting to know her great-grandchildren while in Alexandria and was privileged to celebrate her 95th birthday together on September 11th. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Wayne Strunk and Dick Moley; and brother, William J. Janick, Jr.

Ronnie is survived by her daughters, Jill (Rod) Owen of Morton, Illinois and Kim (Mark) Deterding of Alexandria, Minnesota; three grandchildren, David (Abby) Deterding and Daniel (Jenna) Deterding both of Alexandria, and Katie (Kyle) Slavish of Omaha, Nebraska; nine great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Janet Camp of Morton, Illinois and Linda Moley of Sun City, Arizona; four step grandchildren, Ryan Camp of Morton, Illinois, Nic (Maria) Camp and Alex (Marilei) Camp both of California, and Chris (Chelsea) Camp of Morton, Illinois; five step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials are preferred to the Knute Nelson Foundation, 2209 Jefferson Street, Suite #201, Alexandria, Minnesota 56308.
