Paul Christian was born on August 1, 1960, to John “Jack” and Charlotte (Engebretson) Hedine in Alexandria. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1978. Paul continued his education at Bemidji State University for a year but returned to Alexandria to work as a cement worker and well driller. His family needed help with the books at Hedine Jewelers, so Paul attended Alex Tech School for accounting.  He concluded his education at a gem school in Florida for a course in stone setting and running a torch, and then joined the family business.  He was united in marriage to Karen Nyvold in 1986, and to this union two children were born, Zachary and Katie. Paul had a quick wit and was known a “jokster” among his friends. He was generous, kind, patient and loving to a fault. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting with his clients and loyal customers at the store. He and his brother, Tom worked side by side at Hedine Jewelers and just celebrated 100 years of service in May of 2022. He was united in marriage to Liz Gorham on October 1, 2016, at Camp Wilderness in Park Rapids. Paul and Liz served on the board together for UFFDA – United Foundation for Disabled Archers and were ABATE members of Minnesota Freedom First Riders – American Bikers Aimed Towards Education. Together they enjoyed bow hunting, riding motorcycle, making custom arrows, traveling, and life’s adventures. Paul was one of the high school archery coaches and lovingly called “Coach Bowdine”.

He is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Blake Hedine; and uncle, Duane Hedine.

Paul is survived by his wife, Liz; son, Zach (Katie) Hedine of Alexandria; daughter, Katie (Dan) Even of Byron; two brothers, John “Tom” (Janet) Hedine and Robert (Roxanne) Hedine both of Alexandria; step-son, Isaac Gorham of Alexandria; step-daughter, Kiley Gorham of Alexandria; three granddaughters, Charlotte “Charlie” Even, Izzadore “Izzy” Even, and Eisley Jo Hedine; uncle, Lea Hedine; aunts, Edna Hedine, Janice Sunburg, and Susan Gibbs; four nephews, Spencer (Tracy) Hedine, Johnny (Bethy) Hedine, Wyatt Hedine, and Waylan Hedine; along with five great-nieces; a great-nephew; and a host of friends.
