Patricia R. "Patty" Benkufsky, age 74, of Miltona, died Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Douglas County Hospital.
Memorial services are 1 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2016, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Miltona with Pastor Rachel Stout officiating.
Visitation is 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m., Friday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Miltona.
Patricia Romelle Benkufsky was born on June 6, 1941, to Theodore and Lorraine (Clarine) Hart in Wright. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Patty attended and graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis. During her career she worked as a hairdresser and manager of several bars, before she retired from St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie. Patty was united in marriage to Robert "Benny" Benkufsky, whom she met as a neighbor on Lake Vermont, on March 1, 1994, in Las Vegas. Following their marriage they lived in Blaine for two years before they moved to their Lake Vermont home in 1996. Patty enjoyed being the "Sunday Paper Delivery Lady" and delivered the Star Tribune and lottery scratch offs to her neighbors on the lake. She also enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, and feeding birds. Patty will also always be remembered for being a tremendous cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; son, James Layeux; sister, Roberta; and two brothers; Lynn and Todd.
Patty is survived by her husband of almost 22 years, Benny; daughter, Jennifer (Tom) Solomon of Coon Rapids; brother, Gordy Hart; sister, Nancy (Tom) McCaffrey; three grandchildren, Brian J. Solomon, Travis Johansen, and Meghan Miller; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
