Patricia “Pat” A. Roers, age 94, of Alexandria, formerly of Millerville, died on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Bethany on the Lake under the care of Moments Hospice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 20th, 2023, at Church of St. Mary in Alexandria with Fr. Matthew Kuhn presiding. Interment will take place at the church cemetery.
Visitation will begin with a parish prayer service at 4 p.m. and conclude at 6 p.m., on Thursday, October 19th at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Patricia Ann “Pat” Roers was born April 3, 1929, to Leo and Clara (Boesen) Hopfner in St. Paul. She was baptized at Assumption Catholic Church, St. Paul. At six months old, the family moved to Millerville, where she attended parochial school. Pat formed a local dance band “Kings of Swing” with her dad and sister, Marcine. Together, their band performed many dances in the area. She was united in marriage to Ralph Roers on May 4, 1948, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Millerville. Following their marriage, Ralph and Pat were blessed with 13 children. The couple farmed in Leaf Valley Township until 1975, when they moved to Alexandria. Pat worked for Herberger’s for 20 years. Following retirement, they both enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, gardening, and playing cards. Pat’s family is especially grateful to the staff at Bethany on the Lake and Moments Hospice for their wonderful care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Clara; husband, Ralph; son; William Roers; daughter, Maxine Sammons; daughter-in-law, Irene Wagner Roers; grandchildren, Eric Roers and Keegan Duffy; sister, Marcine McDonough; and brothers-in-law, Frank McDonough and Bob Smith.
Pat is survived by three sons, Daryl (Pam) Roers of Garfield, Michael (Diane) Roers of Miltona, and Rick (Em) Roers of Moorhead; eight daughters, Elaine (Bob) Hagen of Minnetonka, Karen (Andre) Casabonne of Sun City, Arizona, Mary (Rod) Froemming of Garfield, Jean (Dave) Duffy of Maple Grove, Julie (Lindy) Jones of Sartell, Linda (Patrick Doolin) Roers of Billings, Montana, Donna (Todd) Tuma of Millerville and Kim (Eric) Iverson of Oak Grove; son-in-law, Roger Sammons of Brandon; daughter-in-law, Mary Holmgren Roers of Litchfield; 31 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sisters, Lavern Smith, Irma (Dennis) Roers, and Virginia (Jerry) Morical; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many friends.
