Patricia Fern was born on March 29, 1934, to Letmond and Fern (Tomhave) Rose in Fergus Falls. She was raised in Parkers Prairie and was baptized on July 29, 1934, and later, was confirmed by Reverend Peterson, which was then The Swedish Lutheran Church. She graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1952. Patty completed her education to be a Licensed Practical Nurse at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis in 1953. Patty was united in marriage to Norman David Nodsle on August 6,1953, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

When Patty was thirteen years old, she was employed by Dr. and Mrs. Walter Schamber who played a significant role in her life for the next five years, guiding her to nursing school after she graduated high school.

Her first job after graduating nursing school was at St. Barnabas Hospital in Minneapolis where she worked on the surgical floor. She shared an enormous house with five fellow nurses. Patty delighted in this time of her life and felt she was an extremely competent nurse.

Patty enjoyed her many years employed at St. Williams Nursing home working as a private duty nurse for Mrs. Molly Leibold.

Patty had a multitude of interests and possessed a bright and inquisitive mind. She spent endless hours in her garden during the summer months. She loved flowers and took pride in her garden beds. Over the years she tried her hand at many crafts, from painting to hooking rugs and knitting. She looked forward each year to purchasing season tickets to the Wadena Symphony and the plays at Theatre L’Homme Dieu. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed discussing and sharing what she learned. Patty read her encyclopedia collection from A to Z and loved referring to the books over the years.

She had a soft spot for all living creatures and took great delight in feeding the birds in her yard. She adored her children and grandchildren and always welcomed their visits. Her constant form of comfort was her church, where she volunteered for many years. Patty was an excellent cook, especially desserts, which she happily shared with others. Patty cherished the friendships she made at St. Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman on August 24, 1967; parents; step-father, Ira Iverson; siblings, Donna Norton, Bob Rose, Earl Rose, and Bruce Rose; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Marge Davis and Orris and Betty Lou Nodsle; and sons-in-law, Kenneth Nichols, and Steve Ahern.
