Palmer O. Eidem

Palmer O. Eidem, age 89, of Evansville, formerly of Minneapolis, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Evansville Care Center.

A private family burial will take place at Sillerud Lutheran Cemetery in Balaton.

Palmer Ordean Eidem was born on March 3, 1937, to Oscar and Cecelia (Olson) Eidem in Evansville. He was raised on the family farm alongside his twin siblings, Elaine and Eugene, and attended Evansville Schools, graduating in 1955. Palmer was united in marriage to Arlys Ruebsam on May 27, 1973, and the couple shared 20 wonderful years together until her passing in 1993.

Palmer worked for Lutheran Brotherhood for 30 years before retiring in 1992. Following his retirement, he volunteered at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis for more than 20 years. He spent much of his adult life in Minneapolis before returning to his hometown of Evansville, where he could be close to his siblings. He will be fondly remembered by his family and all who knew him.

Palmer was preceded in death by his wife, Arlys; parents, Oscar and Cecelia; parents-in-law, Elmer and Francis Ruebsam; and siblings-in-law, Lois and Dean Ruebsam.

Palmer is survived by his sister, Elaine Eidem; brother, Eugene (Connie) Eidem; and many nieces and nephews.
