Orvin Julius Ost

Orvin J. “Orvie” Ost, age 83, of Parkers Prairie died on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at St. William’s Living Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music is provided by organist, Maureen Diedrich and vocalist, Dedra Zwieg. Interment will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, North Effington.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.

Orvin Julius was born on August 8, 1940, to Albert and Emma (Pflugradt) Ost at home in North Effington Township. He was baptized on September 1, 1940, and confirmed on May 30, 1954, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie. He attended country school and Parkers Prairie Public School. Following his education, Orvin helped his father on the farm. He also worked in the Parkers Prairie Community, DAC, and PAI in Fergus Falls. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. His hobbies included smoking his pipe and watching sports, and particularly enjoyed the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Orgen Ost; and sisters, Darlene Ost, Ordella Fjoser, and Dorthy Ost.

Orvin is survived by his sister, Janice (Rodger) Barker of Hewitt; many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers are Trevor Barker, Stacy Barker, Butch Hoppe, Jake Barker, Mike Zeiher, and Rodger Barker.
