Nancy J. Ost, age 81, of Parkers Prairie, died on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family under the care of Knute Nelson Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at St. James Lutheran Church, South Effington with Rev. Scott Brown officiating. Interment will take place at the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m., on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Nancy Jean was born on September 4, 1942, to Arnold and Mildred Tesch in Parkers Prairie. She was baptized on October 11, 1942, and confirmed on May 27, 1956, at First Lutheran Church. She attended Country School District #74, through the eighth grade and completed her education at Parkers Prairie High School. Nancy was united in marriage to Donovan Ost on March 15, 1958. She worked for Fingerhut Mfg., in Alexandria for 35 years, was a hostess for Utopia Bus Co., and a cook for the VFW. Following her retirement, Nancy volunteered at the Douglas County Hospital. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and was a former Sunday School teacher. Nancy was a member of the Douglas County Hospital Auxiliary, AAAA Theatre and was a life-member of the VFW Auxiliary #936. Nancy enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, cooking and baking, crafts and reading. She especially loved to travel, visit and spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donovan in 1992, and sister-in-law, Lillie Tesch.
Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Jacqualine “Jackie” (Stuart) Shelstad of Lino Lakes and Julie (Paul) Barsness of Brandon; grandchildren, Samantha, Brooke, and Benjamin, and Sydney Shelstad, Joshua (Sarah) and Austin Barsness; godchild, Tracy Perry of Nelson; sisters, Mary Ann Schlosser and Cathy Ley both of Alexandria; brothers, John Tesch of Barrett, Thomas (Ruth) Tesch of Maple Grove, and Mark Tesch of Alexandria; along with many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
