Nancy Margaret was born on August 27, 1936, to William and Rose (Klipa) Haggart in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She attended public school in Windsor and Sarnia before moving to Detroit, Michigan, as a young adult, where she served in the ministry for several years. Nancy later relocated to St. Paul, where she worked at Curtis 1000, a printing press company specializing in check production, while also attending St. Paul Tech. In 1965, during a church convention in Eagle Bend, she met her future husband, Wilbur “Will” Hardy Jr. They were united in marriage on December 1, 1966, in St. Paul and soon made their home in the Alexandria/Carlos area. Nancy provided childcare in her home, caring for her grandsons and many other children over the years. A resilient woman, she was a 43-year survivor of colon cancer. She found great joy in fishing and traveling with her husband, especially to Costa Rica and her absolute favorite place—Hawaii. She loved attending coffee meetups, spending time with family and friends, and embroidering. Above all, her greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Becky (Hardy) Twa; and cousin, Elizabeth Haggart.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Will; daughter, Andi Hardy of Alexandria, Minnesota and Alexandria, Virginia; two grandsons, Evan (Elizabeth) Twa of West Fargo, North Dakota and Zachery (Felicia Ashing) Twa of Janesville; granddaughter, Skylar (Drew) Pleasants of Charleston, South Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Kaileus Twa both of Janesville; and two cousins, Donald Haggart and Kathleen Haggart both of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada.
Pallbearers are Kevin Hardy, Darrell Wilson, Ron Wilson, Alden Springer, Evan Twa, and Zachery Twa.
