Nancy Lee was born on April 14, 1964, to LuVerne and Joan (Liebel) Meyer in Melrose. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Nancy attended school in St. Cloud and Meire Grove before graduating from Melrose High School in 1982. After graduation, Nancy went to school at the University of Minnesota-Morris, then working in the Twin Cities for a short time before moving to Evansville, where she joined and later owned the West Douglas County Record. After selling the paper in 1997, she started working at Rural Cellular Corporation (RCC) in Alexandria. Nancy was united in marriage to Jerome Haggenmiller on April 18, 1998, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River. Together they made their home on Lake Miltona, and she continued working at RCC, and later Stearns Electric. Nancy and Jerome were blessed with two amazing children, Hunter and Joan. She dedicated several years to staying at home to raise them, and once they were older, she returned to part-time work in Parkers Prairie, Miltona, and Alexandria. She was an active member of St. William’s Catholic Church, where she served as choir director. In 2005, she founded the Vikingland Curling Club in Alexandria and served on the state and national curling boards for many years. A gifted musician, she played flute with the Meire Grove Band from her high school graduation until 2020. She was also active with the Panther Boosters and could always be found supporting her children’s extracurricular activities. Nancy will be remembered for her generosity, her willingness to help others, and the joy she found in being with her family.
