Myron LeRoy Fischer, age 88, of Parkers Prairie, formerly of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 16, 2018, at St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at St. William’s Living Center Chapel in Parkers Prairie with Fr. Peter VanderWeyst officiating. Burial is at 11 a.m., Monday, April 23, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Moorhead.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Myron LeRoy Fischer was born on March 25, 1930, to August and Verna (Rintoul) Fischer in Leonard, North Dakota. He attended school in Leonard through the ninth grade. During his life he worked for his dad both on the farm and at the family business, Fischer Lumber Company in Leonard. Myron, with his family, moved to Fargo where he started working at Cashway Lumber. Myron also worked at Crane Lumber Company of West Fargo until his retirement on October 31, 1989. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Fargo. Myron was known for his love of sports and drinking Mountain Dew, dating back to when he was a young man in Leonard. He was a passionate fan of football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball, and softball. During his time in Fargo he was a faithful fan to the Shanley Deacons. In the fall of 2008, Myron moved to Parkers Prairie to be closer to family. His love and support of sports carried onto the Parkers Prairie Panthers, which became legendary with both players and coaches of all ages. He will be dearly missed by all he made an impact on.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lloyd, August, Charles, and Howard; sister, Deloris Ladwig; and faithful companion, Breeze.
Myron is survived by his sister, Kathleen Patricia Barton of Fergus Falls; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are his nieces and nephews.
Memorials preferred to the P547 Foundation.
