Obituary

Michael “Mike” "Spanky" Dean Doble, age 53, of Parkers Prairie, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, at St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie.

A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m., followed by visitation until 8 p.m., on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Vogrin Hall, St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie. Interment will take place at a later date at Esther Lutheran Cemetery, Eastern Township.

Mike was born on May 18, 1972, to Roger and Sharon (Sellman-Clarke) Doble in Parkers Prairie. He attended Parkers Prairie Schools and later earned his GED from Northwest Technical College in Wadena, where he also pursued his CDL in truck driving.

Truck driving was a lifelong passion for Mike, and he worked for many trucking companies over the years. He even owned and operated M & T Trucking for a time. His driving career included working for PJ’s Company, JJ’s Company, Hensley Inc., Carlson Trucking, D & E Logistics, Fimon Trucking, Olson & Sons, Stennes Excavating, G-n-S Astle Trucking, Enmark & Dad Trucking, and Twin Peaks Construction, among others. Most recently, he drove for Farmers Elevator in Kensington, alongside his cousin, Matthew Burns.

Mike was united in marriage to Tonia Koep on August 2, 1997, and together they welcomed two children, Dominic and Micaela, who were truly his pride and joy.

Mike enjoyed spending time with friends, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and working on and polishing his semis—he wanted them to look good coming down the road. His trucking career took him to Alaska for a couple of years and later to Oklahoma for about four years, before he returned to Parkers Prairie to be closer to his children.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Helen Clarke; paternal grandparents, Leslie and Lillie Doble; uncles, Lawrence Doble, Joe Czech, David Burns, and Dale Clarke; aunts, Hazel Doble and Diann Doble; cousin Bryan Burns; and sister Tracy Doble who recently passed away on February 8, 2025.

Mike is survived by his two children, Dominic Doble and Micaela Doble both of Parkers Prairie; parents, Roger and Sharon Doble of Parkers Prairie; sister, Karen (Craig) Marotto of Parkers Prairie; nephew CJ Marotto of Evansville, niece Adrianna Marotto and great niece Rose of Parkers Prairie; and nephew Johnathan Runningen of Alexandria; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A special thank you goes to Mike’s neighbors and friends, Josh and Kelly Jensen; Hospice of Douglas County—especially Kelly Hansen; and the doctors, nurses, aides, and staff at Sanford Health and St. William’s Living Center for the excellent care he received. He will be greatly missed by many.
