Mavis Ann Forkrud

Mavis A. Forkrud, age 89, of Alexandria, died on Monday, December 8, 2025, at her home in Grand Arbor.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Rev. Hans Dahl presiding. Interment will be held at Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria.

The visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mavis Ann was born on August 13, 1936, to Julius and Leona (Schoer) Martinson in Belview. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Belview. Mavis graduated from Belview High School in 1955 and worked in the Belview School Office from 1955 to 1957. She was then employed as a teller at Western State Bank in Marshall until her marriage to Norman Forkrud on October 3, 1959, at The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. After their marriage, they lived south of Sacred Heart until March 1965, when they moved to the Clara City area. Mavis later worked at the Big V Store and retired in 1998 from the housekeeping department of the Clara City Care Center. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was active in the church circle and quilting. Mavis and Norm moved to Alexandria in July 2003. Her husband, Norm passed away in 2011. Mavis moved into Grand Arbor in 2012 where she enjoyed many activities there, especially her Tuesday Whist card group. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Betty Tepfer; and son, Michael in 2021.

Mavis is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Forkrud of Miltona and Shelly Forkrud of Golden Valley; along with many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Bob Tepfer, Greg Tepfer, Al Tepfer, Jay Tepfer, Eric Tepfer, and Chad Forkrud.
