She attended parochial school through the eighth grade. Mary's first job was a "mother's helper" working for families in the area, taking care of the new mothers, their babies, and housework. She also cared for the other children in those families, one of those later became her son-in-law, Fred Julig. Mary met Tony Suchy at a dance, Eddie Suchy introduced the lovebirds in what would become a 59 year marriage. Mary was united in marriage to Anthony Suchy on October 1, 1946 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church in Millerville. Following their marriage, they farmed for his parents until they moved to their farm on the "prairie" in 1949. Mary kept busy throughout the years, raising their nine children, milking cows, raising ducks, geese, chickens and various other poultry and exotic animals. She had a large vegetable garden, fruit trees, strawberry and raspberry patches, as well as beautiful flower beds. In 1999, Tony and Mary moved to their son, Lawrence's farm, which was where they had started in 1946.
