Mary Lorraine Plusa

Mary L. Plusa, age 86, of Alexandria, died on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at St. Cloud Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria with Fr. Jeff Ethen presiding. Interment will take place at St. John Nepomuk Cemetery, Lowry.

Visitation is 3-7 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Lind Family Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service.

Mary Lorraine was born on August 14, 1937, to Stephen and Clara (Chapman) Triner in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Chicago where she attended and graduated from parochial school.

Following her education, Mary met her future husband on a blind date and immediately fell in love with him. As they parted for the evening, he told her in Polish, “Jesteś dziewczyną, którą zamierzam poślubić” ("You are the girl I’m going to marry"). Mary asked what that meant, but he just told her he would tell her later.  Mary and John were united in marriage in the summer of 1955, in Illinois and John finally explained to her what he had told her on that first date. The couple settled in Chicago, where they raised three children and she worked for Helene Curtis Health & Beauty for most of her working career. Following retirement, they moved to Woodstock, and in 2017, to Alexandria, Minnesota. She was an avid fisherwoman, loved putting together puzzles, sewing, and plastic canvas. Mary loved music and especially enjoyed listening to her favorite singer, Englebert Humperdink. She looked forward to having an Old Style Beer daily.  John and Mary enjoyed 68 years of married life and it came to a sudden halt due to a car accident in which they were both injured, with John passing on the 15^th and Mary on the 19^th.  Their deaths have created a significant loss to their family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Steve, and Jimmy; three sisters, Clara, Dorothy, and Francie; and husband, John.

Mary is survived by her children, Mark (Karen) Plusa, John (Christine) Plusa, and Mary McWilliams; grandchildren, Paul, Christopher, Aaron, Meagen, Cody, Raven, John, James, and Jayson; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Victoria, and Oliver; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
