Mary A. Peterson-Severson, age 100, of Parkers Prairie, formerly of Henning, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Henning with Rev. Tania Hammer-Luken and Dr. Rev. Mike Solberg officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Elaine Jorud and vocalist, Kim Haugan. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mary Alice Klein was born December 8, 1912, to Fred and Ruth (Clarke) Klein in Sutton, Nebraska. She was baptized at home in Gary, South Dakota and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Henning. She attended country school through the sixth grade at Richville, Minnesota completing her education of the eighth grade at Folden Township. She was united in marriage to Eric John Peterson at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Henning in 1931. Following their marriage, in addition to being a homemaker, she hung wallpaper, cleaned homes, made rugs and sold Shaklee products. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, its ladies aid and the Deer Creek Senior Citizens. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, stamping and painting. She loved to garden and bake for her family. Her husband, Eric died in 1976. She married Harold Severson in 1985, they spent winters in Dragoon, Arizona and summers at Rush Lake. Her husband Harold died in 1988. Mary lived in Missouri before moving to Fargo where she lived for ten years. She has resided at St. William's Living Center since June of 2001, where she enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Eric and Harold; seven brothers and a sister.
Mary is survived by her two sons, Charles (Nancy) Peterson of Mora and Paul (Mary) Peterson of Parkers Prairie; four daughters, Ruth Hammer of Henning, Eleanor (Ralph) Westerman of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Shirley Solberg of Zion, Illinois and Sharon Rowan of Arnold, Missouri; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are her grandsons.
