Mary Ann Koep, age 100, of Parkers Prairie, formerly of Vining, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank with Fr. Jeremy Theis officiating. Music is provided by the church choir. Interment is at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday beginning with a 5 p.m. prayer service followed by the rosary, and concluding at 7 p.m., at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall in Urbank. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mary Ann was born on January 14, 1925, to Theodore and Mary Becker on the family farm in Effington Township. She attended country school and continued her education through the 11th grade at Parkers Prairie High School. Afterward, Mary Ann moved to the Twin Cities, where she began working. She was united in marriage to Edward Koep on June 11, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank. The couple made their home in rural Henning before eventually settling on their farm in rural Vining. Together, they raised six children: James, Ed, Bernie, Bob, Andy, and JuDee. Mary Ann was a dedicated homemaker and, in her later years, worked for ten years in laundry and housekeeping at the Henning Nursing Home. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a devoted member of the Christian Mothers group. She found joy in tending to her flowers and garden, canning produce, and most of all, making jelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward; and son James.
Mary Ann is survived by her four sons, Ed Koep of Vining, Bernie (Jan) Koep of Maple Grove, Robert (Mary Rose) Koep of North Branch, and Andy (Mary Kay) Koep of Parkers Prairie; daughter, JuDee (Scott) Greenfield of Buffalo; two brothers, Oliver Becker of Alexandria and Philbert (JoAnn) Becker of Tioga, North Dakota; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers are Tim Koep, Tom Koep, Chad Koep, Zach Greenfield, Harold Koep, and Jim Duberowski. Honorary pallbearers are Craig Koep and her remaining grandchildren.
