Mary K. Anderson, age 88, of Alexandria, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at her home under the care of Vivie Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Reach Church in Alexandria with Rev. Nick Grey officiating. Interment will take place at Reno Mission Cemetery, rural Lowry.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Friday, April 10th, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mary was born on February 14, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Waldo and Doris (Walker) Wollin. She was raised in a Christian home and, at a young age, accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. From early on, Mary had a deep passion for music. She played both the piano and organ at church, a gift she continued to share throughout her life. She graduated from South High School in Minneapolis in 1956. On July 12, 1957, Mary was united in marriage to Paul L. Anderson at her home church, Full Gospel Temple in Minneapolis. Following their marriage, she worked in the clothing department at Dayton-Hudson. After the birth of their two sons, Tom and Jerry, Mary devoted herself to raising and caring for her family. In 1969, the family moved to Alexandria, Minnesota, where Mary became an active and beloved member of the community. She faithfully served at Alexandria Assembly of God Church for over 50 years, sharing her musical talents including, pianist and organist, as well as dedicating herself to ministry. She served for many years as Sunday School Superintendent and directed numerous children’s programs and cantatas. Mary also shared her love of music by touring with her son Jerry’s family bluegrass group, “The Anderson’s”. Together, they performed throughout the Midwest and were even featured on national television. In addition to music, Mary enjoyed decorating and sewing. She built an impressive Victorian collection including dolls. She also worked as an interior decorator and window treatment specialist in the Alexandria area. Mary served as the kitchen manager at Andes Tower Hills for over 15 years, supporting her boys and their venture. Above all, Mary cherished her family. She found great joy in gathering everyone around her 16-person round table, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Mary will be remembered for her deep faith, her love of music, and her unwavering devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son Jerry; infant granddaughter, Jasmine; granddaughter Shaylee; brother David Wollin; and parents-in-law, David and Vangie Anderson.
Mary is survived by her husband of 68 years, Paul; son Tom Anderson of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Anderson, Josh Stanphill, Nic (Jennifer) Anderson, Chase (Megan) Anderson, and Mariah (Jay) Hart; 10 great-grandchildren, Noah Stanphill, Jonah Stanphill, Riley Anderson, Brandon Anderson, Caleb Anderson, Ashton Anderson, McKenzie Anderson, Emma Anderson, Adalyn Anderson, and Jeremiah Anderson; brother, Steve (Faith) Wollin; sister Judy Cornelius; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Serving as casket bearers will be Josh Stanphill, Nic Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Gary Anderson, Chase Anderson, and Phil Reece.
