Marvin Hollatz

Marvin L. Hollatz, age 69, of Vining, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Gloria Hollatz. Burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Almora.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday at the Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marvin Leonard Hollatz was born September 20, 1941, to August and Lena (Wangerin) Hollatz at home in Effington Township. He was a birthday surprise for his big sister, Erma who was born on the same day thirteen years earlier. Marvin was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, North Effington. He attended country school in North Effington. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Reams on September 21, 1968, to this union four daughters and a son were born. Marvin was employed at Northwood Specialty Company in Parkers Prairie for many years. He was also employed several years at Volden Elevator Construction in Henning. He was united in marriage to Judith M. (Hens) Tischer July 29, 2000, at Zion Lutheran Church, North Effington. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, North Effington. Marvin enjoyed the outdoors. He spent many years hunting and fishing with family and friends. He loved spending time outside on the farm, especially planting many flowers. He liked old time music, watching westerns and playing cards. Marvin was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Judith; four daughters, Beth Welch of Parkers Prairie, Judy Nelson of Clitherall, Amanda (Mike) Steinbeisser of Eagle Bend and Melissa (James) Koep of Alexandria; three step-sons, James (Wanda) Tischer of Carlos, Perry (Virginia) Tischer and Terry (Donna) Tischer both of Arizona; three grandchildren, Madison Welch, Mercedes Nelson and Guy Steinbeisser; sister, Erma Pinkowski of Urbank; mother-in-law, Evangeline Hens of Parkers Prairie; three aunts, Elda Hollatz, June Wangerin both of Parkers Prairie and Mabel Wangerin of Almora; along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, August Marvin Hollatz; niece, Bernice (Marvin) Koep; and step-son, Kevin Harris.

Pallbearers will be Jim Klimek, Jim Reineke, John Jesnowski, Bob Wangerin, Harold Kuhne, Ronald Kuhne, Jim Tischer and David Koep. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Jahnke and Tom Rupert.
