Marlene Dusing, age 88, of Alexandria, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Alomere Health in Alexandria.
Visitation is Tuesday, January 3, 2023 4-7 p.m., with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alexandria with Father Matthew Kuhn officiating. Music provided by pianist, Luke VanOverbeke and cantor, Erin Takle. Interment is at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Alexandria.
Marlene Mae Houle was born on May 28, 1934, to Clarence and Mae (Charpentier) Houle in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. She was the oldest of five siblings and raised in the St. Paul area. She attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated in 1952. She married Raymond Dusing on May 7, 1955, in St Paul. She worked several jobs, including 3M, before transitioning to her career as a full-time mom for their six children. The couple started their life together in Minneapolis before moving to Alexandria in 1967 to raise their family. They were welcomed to the community by the Newcomers Club, from which many lifelong friendships were developed. Many of the friends that she had made from the club, continued to play bridge together up until her passing. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, observing wildlife, bowling and golfing in her later years. Marlene helped manage and organized numerous bowling tournaments over the years. She was a devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in the death by her parents; and son, Kevin Dusing.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Raymond Dusing of Alexandria; Children, Randy (Valerie) Dusing of Mukwonago, WI, Cheryl (Paul) Schmidt of Osakis, Terry (Robin) Dusing of Brandon, Lance (Kristine) Dusing of Dell Rapids, SD, and Lon (Heather) Dusing of Port Charlotte, FL; sister; Deloris Houle, brothers; Jack (Marie) Houle, Thomas Houle, and Rick Houle; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as Marlene’s casket bearers will be her family.
