Marie Cosh

Marie Ellen Sperr Cosh, with her coffee mug in one hand and hair spray in the other, went to meet her lord and savior on Wednesday September 7th 2016, at Alexandria Assisted Living. She was 76 years of age.

A celebration gathering is from 4-8 p.m., with a time of sharing at 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holmes City. Private family committal will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Herman on a later date.

Marie was the fourth born child of six siblings to Edward and Euphemia (Oachs) Sperr, on April 6th, 1940, in Donnelly Township, Stevens County MN. She attended grade school at District #63 country school in Donnelly Township and attended High School in Morris graduating in 1958. Marie was known for her fashion sense at a young age being voted best dressed by her classmates.  She attended beauty school in Minneapolis for one year.  After graduating beauty school Marie went to work for Doug Parisian in Morris. She then built her own beauty shop on the Cosh family farm, and it was named Marie's Salon of Beauty.

Marie married Robert Wells Cosh on May 29th, 1959. To this union, their first daughter Heidi Elaine was born on February 27th, 1962, and their second daughter Jill Euphemia was born on April 9th 1967. Bob and Marie were able to celebrate 25 years of marriage in 1984. Bob passed away of pancreatic cancer in 1987.

There was no task that Marie would not take on, she worked side by side with Bob raising cattle, and farming small grain. She took great pride in her work, and her manicured lawn was proof of that. All people that drove by the farm and honked would say how beautiful her yard always looked. Now onto her baking and cooking skills, this woman could bake 10 apple pies in one day, and did not bat an eye. She had a green thumb when it came to her flower garden and vegetable gardens, and then the canning would begin. At Christmas she would deliver special care packages of her delicious cookies and then those famous caramels to friends and family.

Being a mother and a friend to her daughters was something that became very natural, she always had a listening ear, always fair and would give the best advice. She taught us that whatever we put our minds to, we could do. She made our birthdays the best and exciting day ever, including a homemade cake, always a fan at watching us play sports.

Granddaughters Morgan and Hannah brought joy to her world, making their favorite dinners per their request or a special desert were always made with a smile and a hug. She was the first one to hop in their go cart and go for spin around the yard laughing at the top of her lungs. She was a very hip and fun grandma.

Marie is survived by two daughters, Heidi Abel (Bruce), Jill Cosh Anderson (Derrik); two granddaughters, Morgan and Hannah; brother, Gail Sperr (Jeanne); sister-in-law, Doris Sperr; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Robert; parents; brothers, Neil, Irving, and Dale; sister, Erla; niece, Debra Gardell; and nephew, David Andersen.
