Obituary

Margery Lusty, age 81, passed away with her family beside her on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the Pillars of Lakeville.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., prior to the service.

She was born November 10, 1944 to Alice (Steidl) Lusty and Leslie Lusty in Bertha, MN. Her parents moved to a farm just outside of Miltona, MN and that’s where she spent most of her time growing up. If you asked her, she’d tell you it was a short-end-of-the-stick birthday since it was always around deer hunting season and people were too busy hunting to celebrate her birthday. Marge was the youngest, so she figured out how to help on the farm by driving tractor by age 8 and helped take care of many of the household chores to help her mom in the house.

Marge graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in Alexandria in 1962. She also loved to dance, so it’s no surprise she met Wally Gulbrandson at a dance hall and they married in September of 1964. Three children followed. Julie, Brian and Kia. Marge and Wally settled on a hobby farm west of Alexandria where she kept a large garden, taught piano lessons, was involved with the church by organizing events like Christmas programs. She was also musically gifted. She sang at special occasions in Spruce Hill, played piano and taught piano lessons, played organ for church, and played guitar and the accordion for family sing-alongs. Marge and Wally remained at the hobby farm until 1986 when they parted ways.

Marge lived in Alexandria or the surrounding area the majority of her life. She loved the lakes, the land, and the people. In 1988, she found the profession she really loved in real estate. She put all that she loved about the area to work. In the 30 years or so of her real estate career, she most treasured the many friendships she made along the way from the people she worked with to the clients who sometimes became good friends.

During this time, she also loved spending time with her grandchildren, boating on the lakes. Some of her happiest memories were of times spent at her cabin on Lake Carlos. The time spent with family and friends, sunsets, grandkids “shishing” off the docks, and late in the night bonfires were some of her favorites.

In 2004, she met and 10 years later (at age 70!) married Dennis Ramey – the one who matched her wit and fierce independence with his own temerity and stubbornness. Somewhere in the middle, they found a deep and abiding love. She said what little time they had was worth it

Marge spent her last years in memory care as Alzheimer's took her from us little by little.

She often said that the Lord is good and felt He always watched out for her since things seemed to work out the way they should, even if it wasn’t the way she wanted them to.She left this world with her keen sense of humor and deep love for her family well intact. So,this is what we take with us. Loving well is the legacy she leaves behind.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Alice (Steidl) Lusty, Leslie Lusty; brothers: David and Donald Lusty, son-in-law: Steve Bongers, and husband: Dennis Ramey.

She is survived by her 3 children: Julie (Mike) Jarvis, Brian (Jen) Gulbrandson, and Kia (Tom) Woida. She was the proud grandma to Rylie (Evan), Declan, Reece, Mason, Justin, Gavin, Abby and Alex.
