Luther B. “Lu” Westad, age 64, of Parkers Prairie died on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Rachel Stout officiating. Music is provided by organist, Julie Lindgren. Lu’s service will be livestreamed - to view the live stream please click HERE. The service will also be broadcast live on 107.2 FM radio to cars parked in the church parking lot. Interment will take place at the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, Parkers Prairie.

A visitation is 4-7 p.m., Monday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service.

Luther Bradley was born on March 26, 1957, to Harris and Margareth (Larson) Westad in Parkers Prairie. He was baptized and confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1975, continued his education at Alexandria Technical College for a short time before returning home to farm. He was united in marriage to Barb (Jerome) Eggert on August 27, 1988, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, Lu continued to farm on the homestead until 1995, when he pursued a degree at Alex Tech as a machine assembly specialist. Following his education, he began working at Brenton Engineering and eventually Aagard where he has been employed the past 17 + years. His wife, Barb died in June of 2006. Through a mutual friend, Lu met Lori in 2010, and they were married on August 17, 2013, in Parkers Prairie. He was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dart Ball, Lions Club, Church Council, Leaf Valley Coyote Club, and a former member of Buck Masters and the Jaycees. Lu enjoyed playing slow pitch softball league in Henning and Miltona, hunting, fishing, farming, and being outdoors. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his kid’s and grandchildren’s events. Lu loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barb; and many brothers-in-law.

Lu is survived by his wife, Lori; three children, Nathan (Laura) Westad, Megan (Kyle) Barrows of Parkers Prairie, and Shelby (Garrett Greenwood) Westad of Henning; stepchildren, Keith (Cassy Schulke) Eggert of Motley, Gregg (Kristy) Janson of Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, Andy (Jessica) Janson of Cable, Wisconsin, Sara (Brandon Berthiaume) Janson of Glenwood, and Peter Janson of Parkers Prairie; sister, Joyce Halverson of New Ulm; grandchildren, Tenley, Owen, Ella, and Henry Westad, Kennedy, Sawyer, and Kolt Barrows, and Brynlee Greenwood, Parker and Paisley Eggert, Hagen Janson, Brooke, Sadie, Daisy, and Wilder Janson, and Jaelynn and Eliza Berthiaume; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Pallbearers are Jason Halverson, David Halverson, John Potratz, Larry Shjerve, Tate Jerome, and Ward Jerome. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren and Parkers Prairie Lions Club.
